Community Member Guide

Welcome to MySportLeagues! This guide will help you navigate the platform, join communities, participate in leagues and ladders, and manage your profile.

Important: This website is based on Communities. All activities—including leagues, challenge ladders, and court reservations—occur within specific communities. To participate, you must first join a community. Once you are a member, you can then join the various competitions and events hosted by that community.

1. Getting Started

Creating an Account

If you haven't already, click "Register" on the home page. Fill in your details. You will need to verify your email address before logging in.

Joining a Community

Once logged in, your dashboard might be empty. To get involved:

  • Invitation Link: If a community admin sent you a link, click it to join that community directly.
  • Search: Use the "Find Communities" feature to search for public communities.
  • Create: You can also create your own community from the dashboard if you are inclined to become a community administrator.

2. Teams

Joining a Team

Some leagues and ladders are team-based. In order to participate in these, you must be part of a team. To join a team:

  1. Go to the Community Page.
  2. Scroll to the "Teams" section.
  3. Click on a team to view its profile.
  4. Find out who the captain is, ask them to invite you to be part of the team, and accept that invitation from your dashboard. Or, have the community admin add you to a team. Or, you can create a new team yourself and invite others to join your team.

Creating a Team

You can create your own team within a community:

  1. Navigate to the Community Page.
  2. Look for the "Create Team" button in the Teams section.
  3. Enter a team name and optional description/avatar.
  4. You will automatically become the Captain of this team.
  5. Invite other community members to be a part of your team.
  6. Note that you don't have to wait for others to accept your invitation before you start joining team leagues and challenge ladders.

3. Competitions (Leagues & Ladders)

Leagues

Leagues are structured competitions with schedules.

  • Joining: Admins usually invite players to leagues. Check your notifications on your dashboard for invites or check the "League Details" page for the "Join League" button in the league details section if open enrollment is still allowed for the league.
  • Schedule: View your upcoming matches on the "League Details" page.
  • Standings: The leaderboard on the "League Details" page updates automatically as matches are played.

Challenge Ladders

Challenge Ladders allow you to challenge players ranked above you in order for you to move up the ladder.

  • Joining: Click "Join Ladder" on the challenge ladder page. You will start at the bottom of the ladder and you can challenge member that are above you.
  • Challenging: Find a player ranked above you and contact them to play.
  • Logging Results: After the match, click "Log Match Result" on the ladder page to record the score. If the lower-ranked player wins, they move to the match loser's spot and the match loser moves down 1 rank.

4. Court Reservations

If your community manages courts, you can book them:

  1. Go to the Community Page and click "Reservations" from the "Community Activities" section.
  2. Select a date and view available time slots.
  3. Click a slot to book it.
  4. Note that you will only be able to make a limited number of future dated reservations. This number is defined by your community administrator.
